Growing up my sisters and I would have a gingerbread party every year. Once we all went to college they fizzled out and I haven’t participated in a while. This year I was beyond thrilled when I got the invitation for the 6th Annual McReeder Gingerbread House Extravaganza!! My friends Dan and Katie also participate in this awesome tradition and hosted a great turnout at their house a few weekends ago. They went all out with a delicious ham and lots of yummy food. After everyone had their fill we got our supplies and began building. Linc had to go out of town at the last minute so I made my rounds watching, gathering materials, and taking pictures. It was a great party and everyone had a blast!
One of the guests drove his beautiful Lamborghini over and let me try it out!
These people are super serious about the competition and some even brought their own icing and decorations from home! The theme this year was “Movies” and we had everything from the Lion King to Snakes on a Plane to Charlie Brown Christmas. Bill and Shari created their very first gingerbread Pirates of the Caribbean ship and Laurie and her husband Jimmy made a basketball stadium from Hoosiers. Hosts Dan and Katie made the Emerald City from Wizard of Oz and even managed to incorporate one of my hand crafted donut snowmen (thanks Pinterest!!).
After all the building was complete, our votes were cast and the winners were announced. Shari and Bill tied for second place and the overall winner was Charlie Brown Christmas. A few of us stayed to play charades at the end of the night and I’m pretty sure the girls won since we were totally awesome at it…
Such a great night with all our buddies! Already looking forward to next year!!

we need to find the photos of the village you all did one year and the "fortresses" the boys came up with. I think they would have won this competition hands down!
This is the best idea ever!
this looks SO FREAKING FUN!! You look so gorgeous in these pictures, Kelly.
My vote goes to snakes on a plane.
