At one week we are still trying to figure out a routine and basic schedule, but he is slowly becoming more regular on when he wants to eat, play, and sleep. The first few days he was eating every 2-2.5 hours while my milk was coming in and now we're up to about 3.5-4 hours between feedings. He is more alert each day and I could stare into his eyes all day long! Our favorite thing to do is have some cuddle time after eating and then some skin to skin. My boy loves to be nakie and how could you blame him?
His belly button is healing well and the cord looks like it is almost ready to fall off.

In other news, I have always been interested in reading about the moms after labor and the recovery process, so I took a one week postpartum photo to share and to remember for the future. At 38.5 weeks pregnant I had gained 36 pounds. As of this morning I have lost 21 of those pounds. People weren't kidding that breast feeding really helps, but I am starving ALL of the time now and can't seem to eat enough! I have still not been brave enough to try on my pre-pregnancy pants, but hopefully in a few weeks I'll be back to wearing normal clothes. For now, sweats and jammies will have to suffice!
As far as sleep deprivation goes, Linc and I have tried really hard to sleep when Carter is sleeping. Of course we're still tired and I have a feeling that won't go away for a while! We have been very blessed to have my mom and the rest of the family around to help keep up with things around the house. Linc and I were saying that if it was just the two of us we would do an amazing job taking care of Carter and everything else would fall apart. Thankfully, with their help, things have been going pretty smoothly.

Carter, we are so glad you're here 10 days early. Every day with you this past week has been a blessing. You are one loved little boy! xoxox
Hi Kelly,
I've never posted before but I had to tell you and your Hubs congrats. Your little boy is so cute! And so peaceful looking. You have brought back the memories because my first little boy arrived 10 days early too and had lots of hair like Carter's.
I remember bout being starving too during the b'feeding. have lots of finger foods and water around. many times I'd be eating and nursing at the same time. Poor little guy in my lap would have lettuce dropped on him.
Again, congrats.
