At week 22 Baby H is starting to look like a miniature newborn. He has stretched to the size of a spaghetti squash and weighs almost a pound. According to BabyCenter, his lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment.
Fine hair covers his body and he has deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily. His face is fully formed and he is even practicing his sleep cycle, getting about 12 to 14 hours a day. He is also able to hear outside noises clearly now.
I have begun to tackle a bit of my "before baby arrives to-do list" and started registering this weekend. Other than that, I have been playing lots of tennis, working hard, and resting as much as possible! This will be a fun week because my student intern begins teaching tomorrow. I am excited to see how she does and also thankful because she's taking over Social Studies at the end of the day when I am most tired! Tomorrow I am going with my small group to meet Baby Jack and on Friday morning Linc and I are headed to Charleston for my brother in law's wedding. Hope everyone had a great weekend and has lots to look forward to! Hopefully I will remember to bring my camera tomorrow and take pictures of Baby Hami's new friend!
