Don't worry, I don't think I'll be having one of those any time soon. I had such a great start to my weekend-long birthday celebration. Thursday I woke up to a very sweet card that Linc left by my sink and I headed to work in a great mood. I had not requested much for this birthday except for one major project- to have our backyard finished! We have spent the last year working on the front and getting the inside painted and decorated and our poor backyard has been seriously neglected. We had taken out a few big pine trees a few months ago and now there is just a huge area of dirt and pine straw near the back fence. One lone tree was planted right smack in the middle of the yard and it needs to be moved. Our plan is to recover our concrete patio with stone and extend it over- adding in a deck and built in grill! Can't wait to see how it turns out in real life. You can see from the drawing that Linc made what he has in mind!
When I got to school my kids had remembered it was a special day and also made me some cards that we hung on my desk to display. One little girl even painted me a picture of sunflowers on a canvas because she knew how much I love them! My girlfriends at school arrived with a card and a celebration dinner at Two Urban Licks for next week! While we were in the middle of our grade level meeting a beautiful bouquet of tulips and balloons arrived from my amazing parents! One more surprise awaited as my new friend Jenna surprised me at lunch with a gift and a delicious chocolate cake!! Thursday afternoon I went to our school's fundraiser at Chick-fil-A and ate an early dinner before heading to tennis practice! We have our first match on Sunday and I wanted to make sure I had enough court time with my new partner. I ended up staying a little later and playing another match so by the time I got home I showered up and headed to bed!
Friday at school we are celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday! It was supposed to be Monday, but perhaps you remember this post? It is also Read Across America week so we are spending the whole day reading Dr. Seuss books and other great stories that the kids have brought in. We have several guest readers lined up to come to the classroom and I am hoping it will be a very quiet and enjoyable day! My grade level ordered in a delicious lunch to continue the birthday celebration from my favorite sandwich shop- Fancy Pantry- complete with mini decadent cupcakes! Did I mention points don't count on your birthday? Good thing I played tennis three days this week! We have a busy few days coming up to celebrate my birthday even more- tonight Linc and I are meeting my parents at the club for dinner, we're going to a little party at out friend's house on Saturday, and Sunday Linc and I will celebrate together! I am sure I will have a lot more to post about as the weekend continues but so far it has been a great birthday! Thank you all for your sweet comments yesterday and hope you're having a great day too!
