Jon and Kate +8

If you have never heard of the show Jon and Kate Plus 8 than apparently you live under a rock! It is the number one rated show on TLC and is the story of two parents, Jon and Kate Gosselin who are raising a set of twins and another of sextuplets. The couple travels all around the US promoting their two books, the show, and talking about their lives in front of the camera. Kate came to speak at the Roswell United Methodist Church on Friday night to discuss what the network tends to cut out of the show- her family's faith. She talked in depth about how she and Jon met, their marriage, and the desire to start a family. They found out early on that they would have fertility issues but how they trusted God and His plan for their lives. A set of twins and sextuplets later...they continue to trust and have faith in God's plan. Kate discussed the loss of their seventh baby, her months of bed rest before the arrival of the six babies, and how the timing of the sextuplet's birth (two days earlier than Kate wanted) couldn't have come at a better time. I am pretty sure the entire story is written in her book Multiple Blessings so I won't go into the whole thing but it was really nice to listen to her talk about her beliefs and struggles and realize that even though she is "famous" she is still human!

After listening to her story and some questions from the audience we all lined up for an autograph and photo session! The lines weaved all throughout the church and I was worried we would be there all night! My friend Halie and I went together and took a few pictures while waiting in line. Thankfully it moved pretty quick and before we knew it we were in the room with Kate! I felt like a giddy little girl when it was my turn to go up and meet her and we talked about her glowing tan and recent trip to California. She signed my program, posed for a photo, and I was on my way! I have never met a celebrity in real life before so the mere three seconds of conversation were rather exciting and I am thrilled I even got to talk to her. I am sure at that point in the night she must have been exhausted because I know I was! ;) I had such a great time and with that, I'll leave you with a mini photo collage of our night! Enjoy!
Edited (3:48pm)- I heard some of the rumors about the Gosselin's marriage, etc last night but Kate explained that the reason she was doing the appearance alone is because it is too hard on the kids when they are both out of town. She also said that she's the one that likes to talk and Jon would not make for a very interesting show! Whatever the case is I can only pray that their marriage will continue to be strong for the sake of their kids and that the publicity from the show will not negatively affect them in any way.
