I don't know what it is about Saturdays but it seems that is when I am at my most creative! Saturday night we were invited to my mom's best friend's house for dinner and a lesson in how to make cards. She has an entire room in her basement filled with thousands of stamps, paper, ribbons, and anything else you need to create a hand made greeting card. After a few slices of pizza we set up in the dining room and began working. I had planned to make a beach themed birthday card so once we cut the paper I had two blue card stock backgrounds and two folded sand colored pages.
I started with a funny "Snappy Birthday" card for my mother in law which you can see in the bottom right of the picture. The crab was stamped in black ink and then I colored it in using red, orange, and brown chalk! I added some googly eyes for extra effect and a blue bow to tie it all together. On the inside it says "Shore do love you!" and I wrote a simple message and signed our names. You can't have a card without and envelope to send it in so I took a plain white envelope and added a starfish on the front next to our return address and a large clam on the back which you can see in the picture! The whole project took me about an hour once I was done shading, gluing, and making sure it was perfect so I did not have as much time as I would have liked for more cards!
Thankfully since I already had the other pieces of paper cut I had to finish a second card and so out came a cute Easter card with chicks and buttons! The outside says "Happy Easter from one chick to another!" and the inside says "You crack me up!" The coordinating envelope has a hatching chick and squiggly design across the bottom on both sides. I had planned to make some baby cards too for all my friends who are having kids but we ran out of time and before we knew it, it was almost 11 o'clock! I am sure we'll be back again to make some more cards because I can't imagine going to Hallmark and spending $3-$6 on something that I know I can make now!

I love those cards esp. the snappy birthday! :)
we sure had fun!
Oh how frickin cute!
Those are so adorable! What do you think you need to buy to start up your own card-making center?
I can totally relate with the molding. Little Dog started it, then Big Dog continued. We have LOTS of trim we need to finish up, but we're just not willing to spend the time on it-- we're not sure if they'll chew the new stuff! And, Little Dog? She ate the PADDING of the carpet in the hallway. She peeled back the carpet to get to the padding. We'll be re-doing the hallway next. Ugh. I swear I never knew dogs could be so destructive! My next dog will be perfectly well behaved! :)
LOVE the cards! How cute!
to Becky- I was inspired too, and bought a few things at HB, spent $60, then the next day went to Micheals, spent $50. Yikes, it's expensive to start up this hobby! But I will share w/ Kelly.
