Adventures in Rice Cereal

The other morning I thought it would be fun to try some rice cereal. Carter humored me but he really wasn't interested at all. It started out very promising with him grabbing at the bowl and spoon, but as soon as he tasted the mush he decided he would not open his mouth again!! Here's how it went:

Step One: Get sleepy baby out of bed!

Step Two: Put baby in bouncy seat!
Click picture to enlarge and see baby C's new tooth!!

Step Three: Collect all your supplies while milk defrosts

Step Four: Get baby nakie and put on bib!

Step Five: Mix up the cereal

Step Six: Show baby what to do

Step Seven: Tell baby how absolutely disgusting delicious rice cereal is going to taste!

Step Eight: Laugh to yourself that he believed Step Seven...

Step Nine: Attempt to get cereal in baby's mouth

Step Ten: Did I mention ditch the bib?

Step Eleven: Try and get baby to open his mouth....

Step Twelve: Take pictures of messy baby

Step Thirteen: Laugh again, this time at how
much cereal is on baby instead of inside baby!

Step Fourteen: Head upstairs to clean off!

What a cutie! That's a great series of shots.

Here's what I remember about rice cereal. It corroborates your experience:

1) No baby likes rice cereal because it tastes like nothing.

2) Rice cereal exists more to give you, the mom, something to do.

I'd skip straight to the banana!

He wouldn't even open his mouth?! That's funny! Macey loves applesauce... Maybe Carter will like something sweeter.
