...in about three hours Linc and I are headed to the airport and will be leaving for Chicago. His cousin Sara (who announced her engagement at the same place Linc and I got engaged five years earlier) is getting married tomorrow! This will be my first time in the Windy City and I hope I packed enough layers!! The weather report was only a little cooler than Ga and I have some super cute Lilly dresses to wear to the rehearsal and ceremony.
While we're gone our dog trainer Bill is going to teach Westin some agility tricks! He's going to set up a course in our backyard and show him how to do the tunnel and pyramid! I told Bill to take lots of pictures and I will make sure to post them if he does!
Linc and I are celebrating our third anniversary while we're in Chicago so I have next weeks post ready to go- the last installment of Weddings Wednesday! I hope you'll check it out!! Have a great weekend!

Weddings Wednesday III
Back for another installment of Weddings Wednesday! You can see week one and week two by clicking the links as well as a special cake addition post! This time I'll be sharing pictures of our cocktail reception. Linc and I chose to spend this time by ourselves back in the clubhouse while guests enjoyed some great food and music out on the veranda. It was the perfect evening for drinks and getting to know each other!
The countdown to our third anniversary continues!

A Summer to Remember
Friday was our last day of school with the kids and I am so excited to be "finished." We still have three more days of post planning where I will move classrooms and get organized for next year but it will be pretty low key and easy. I did not have big plans for vacation until recently when my very amazing and wonderful husband surprised me with the trip of a lifetime! We will be spending two weeks in July traveling around Greece!
We have been working on our itinerary this weekend and have set up some really cool stops! We will start on the island of Crete, then take a ferry to Santorini, and then another ferry to Athens to finish up our trip before heading back home.
I am so excited to be going- mainly because I have never traveled outside the US before and am anxious to see the world! We went and signed up to get our passports on Thursday and they are being shipped to us in a few weeks. We have been talking about doing a big trip for years now and I am so glad we have the time and resources to do this. If anyone has advice for things to do or see while we are in Greece feel free to comment or email me!

Let Them Eat Cake
I received a few emails and comments about the cake at our wedding and since it was so gorgeous (and delicious) I thought it should get it's own post! Here are a few more pictures of our beach themed creation to go along with the Weddings Wednesday post!
I think one of the best parts about a wedding is picking out all the food! The cake was no exception and it tasted just as good as it looked. Lady Fingers even mailed us a fresh cake on our one year anniversary so we didn't have to deal with year old freezer burn!
She sprinkled the table with brown sugar to make it look like sand!
The cake was three layers, alternating between a
vanilla butter cake with butter cream icing
and chocolate cake filled with strawberries and chocolate ganache!

Weddings Wednesday II
Welcome to part two of Weddings Wednesday! If you missed part one, go back and look at some of the photos leading up to the wedding! I'm spending the last few weeks counting down to our anniversary reminiscing about our wedding day. Today I will be sharing some pictures of our ceremony!
Originally we were going to get married on the driving range because the golfers would still be out playing the course, but thankfully the club closed early for the day and we got to set up right in front of the clubhouse! The weather was amazing, the sun was shining, the breeze kept us cool, and everything went according to plan. I know people say that no wedding goes off without a hitch, but I think mine was as close to perfect as one could hope to get! So without further ado, I present the ceremony photos!

100th Post/4 Questions?
Well, that was quite a disappointing turn out for Ask Me Anything. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little sad that only three people responded- one of which is my mother! But, I promised answers, so here we go!
Lea Liz asked two questions beginning with "How did you and your husband meet?"
We met in high school in our church parking lot. Our best friends Brian and Courtney had each brought us to church that night and Linc introduced himself after youth group. We were standing on opposite sides of a car and he shook my hand across the top! I remembered thinking that he was really cute. I was sixteen, he was seventeen and we've been together ever since! We recently celebrated our nine year anniversary!
"How long have you played tennis?"
I started playing when I was little. We lived in a neighborhood where all my friends played. I took it pretty seriously until horse back riding took over my life and I gave up everything else (including ballet). I played on and off for fun throughout high school and college but I started playing again more seriously after college when I joined a team through my parents club. Now Linc and I both play on various teams throughout the year and I also am going to start attending Cardio Tennis this summer!
Sandy asked "Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Living where? Children? Job?"
Goodness, in five years I hope there will be lots to blog about!! If we're not living in the same house, I would love to move down to Peachtree Corners but I think we're going to have a hard time finding everything we want in an older house. My one main requirement now is finding a house that has the laundry room on the same level as the bedrooms! No more lugging all the clothes up and down the stairs!! I also hope we have children by then, maybe even one more on the way and I am a full time stay at home mom! But we'll have to see what God's plan is =)
Britney asked "If you and Lincoln could take a year off and do anything in the world what would you do?"
That's another tough question. If money weren't a factor we would definitely travel all over the place! I have never been outside the United States so I would love to experience what the rest of the world has to offer. Our top destinations right now include Ireland, New Zealand, and Italy. If we had a year, we would probably start in Europe and work our way back to Georgia across the different continents.
Thanks for participating and hopefully that helped you get to know me a little better. And for all you other followers and lurkers, shame on you!

100th Post/100 Questions
I didn't realize it, but yesterday was my 100th post! Yay for me! In honor of that I thought I would do an "Ask Me Anything" segment to try and get all you followers (and lurkers...hint hint hint) involved and allow you to get to know me better!
You can ask me a question in the comment section or feel free to email me at khamilton626@gmail.com if you would prefer. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!
I'm not really expecting 100 questions, but why not aim high?
So, here goes nothing! What do you want to know about me?

Weddings Wednesday I
Linc and I are quickly approaching our third anniversary and since I did not know blogging existed back then, I thought it would be fun to share some of our wedding photos as the countdown continues. For those of you who are new here, we got married in June on Kiawah Island, SC. This is the place that my family had vacationed for years and when Linc and I started dating we found out that his family loved it too! His parents even live there now and own a store in Freshfields Market.
The best part about our wedding is that all our friends and family took a week long vacation leading up to the big day! We all stayed together in a huge house on the beach that slept 27! After a great vacation and enjoying the sun and sand what better way to end the week than a wedding and an amazing party afterward! My amazingly talented mother planned the wedding while I finished school and it could not have been more perfect. We had the most beautiful weather the day of our wedding with bright blue skies and a nice strong breeze.

Graduation Weekend
The last of the Nathan girls has graduated college! I cannot believe how fast we're all growing up but we just celebrated Alex's big day out at the lake. She attended Georgia College and State University and will receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree this summer after finishing her senior seminar classes. I drove out to the lake after school on Friday and Kristin and Ryan arrived a few hours afterward. We all ate dinner together and went to bed early! We got up at 6am to get ready and drove to Milledgeville for the graduation ceremony. Thankfully the ceremony was early enough in the morning that it wasn't very hot and we got great seats shaded by a big tree thanks to Alex's friends Lisa and Brooks.
After 1050 names and a quick tour of Alex's apartment we headed back to the lake for a yummy lunch of Publix subs. We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out on the deck and playing with the 7 dogs that were there!! In addition to my mom's three tiny pups (who were quite terrorized all weekend long) we had Westin and Tessa, cousin Jax, and baby Link (not to be confused with my husband who arrived after winning his ALTA match!). They enjoyed romping around in the "dog park" and eating sticks in the sunshine. I was impressed with how well behaved they were and glad to say that all the puppies got along well!
On Sunday we celebrated Mother's Day with a delicious brunch, opened presents, and then said goodbye to Kris, Ryan, Jax, Aunt Cin, Uncle Greg, and Link. The rest of us took some much needed naps before driving to the marina for an early dinner. It might not have been the fine dining experience we're used to out at the lake, but I'm glad we were able to have one last meal together! My Linc and I went home after dinner and went straight to bed! Sun and fresh air always wear me out. It was a great weekend with fun had by all! Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day and spent time with someone special!
PS- Yes, that is baby Jax drinking Linc's beer...he's such a bad uncle!
PPS- Yes, I really am that pale...

Spring!
When I planted them back in November I never would have
guessed that they would last this long! Yesterday I drove up after work and was amazed at how pretty they still are. After coming close to ripping the whole front island out in March, I'm glad I waited because all of our spring rain has revived the garden and brought all these winter plants into full bloom! We have little bees buzzing around, birds making nests all around the yard (including our gutter), and new flowers popping up around the neighborhood. It certainly seems that spring has sprung...with only ten more school days before "summer" vacation!
In other springy news...one of my fellow teachers has begun to ask around if I am *ahem* pregnant. I heard from my friend Amy that she just has a feeling that I am. Perhaps this teacher does not read my blog and realize that I have lost about 15 pounds since January and am in the best shape of my life. But anyway, I blame it on the fact that empire waist tops are about the most comfiest clothes in the world and I have been wearing my entire wardrobe of spring dress shirts to work lately. After talking with Amy I decided to not come right out and say no unless she asks me directly and instead play along without her knowing. Today at lunch Amy is going to invite me to happy hour (knowing full well that I can't come tonight) and I'll answer something along the lines of I'm trying to cut back on my alcohol now. I just want to see what the other teacher says. Should make for an interesting lunch conversation! Haha! Happy Friday!

Field Day/Sick Day
Thursday morning I woke up with a sore throat and just decided to ignore it. The teacher in me was convinced it would just blow over. I thought to myself, it's spring and everyone is getting sick...I'll just pop some Airborne and be fine. And I was, until I woke up on Friday and knew it wasn't any normal sore throat. Unfortunately, it was Field Day and I just could not bring myself to call in sick. My kids were so excited and to be honest, I was too! We made our own shirts this year, we had been practicing the games, the weather was going to be perfect, and I just wanted to go! Mentally I was pumped. Physically, I only lasted a couple hours! The theme for this year was "Passport to America" and each station had something to do with one of the fifty states.
By the time we got through the Pacific Northwest I thought I was going to die. I knew I was running a fever and everyone who saw me said I wasn't looking too good. Thankfully I had two special ed teachers helping me for the day (I have 3 BD students and another with one zero impulse control) so I left them to take my kids to lunch and headed to the clinic. She confirmed that I had a high fever and some white spots in my throat. I went and told my principal and headed to the doctor leaving my kids in the very capable hands of my friend Jenna. I was so sad to leave them but I was falling apart and could not make it a few more hours! Don't worry...she Lysol-ed the heck out my classroom after I left (twice!)!
I drove to the Minute Clinic and waited two hours to see the nurse. She confirmed I had strep, sent me home with some Penicillin, and told me to sleep it off. That is exactly what I did! I even took Monday off to recuperate and ended up sleeping in until 2:00! Clearly my body needed some serious rest! I still feel awful- the strep turned into a nasty cough/runny nose but it's too hard to take that many days off work without planning ahead! The bad news is that including me, 7 people in my class have had strep throat within the last two weeks!! My principal sent home a note about hand washing, blah blah blah, but it's an epidemic! I only hope we can stay healthy for the next 2.5 weeks and I can make it to summer break without another outbreak!

May 1st was a pretty busy day for our friends and family! Unfortunately for me, I had to leave field day early because I was running a high fever and after waiting around at the Minute Clinic for 2 HOURS found out I actually have strep throat...but despite that piece of rotten news we also have lots to celebrate!
