Carter is very fortunate to have a huge collection of books (thanks to my years of teaching). Every time I would order books for my classroom I would picture my future children inheriting them and getting countless hours of enjoyment out of the stories! Carter’s new favorite activity is to thumb through the books by himself and babble. I wish I could understand the stories he’s telling because they sound like they would be amazing! Of course he would much rather read than pose for photos, but I had to try anyway!

Midway Park
Last week we tried out a new park near our house. It is behind my favorite pizza restaurant and I never even knew it existed until one of our friends brought it up! We met our new buddies Anita and Evan there and played for a bit. Unfortunately, it was really hot and there was not much shade so the babies didn’t last long. I have a feeling there will need to be more indoor play dates since it’s already 90 degrees in May!

Round of Applause
Carter gives himself a round of applause after a particularly wonderful performance (if he does say so himself)!

My Little Dancing King
I shared this on Facebook last night but had to put it on here too! Carter loves to show off his dancing skills during his favorite show and thankfully I was able to sneak my phone out and capture his performance.

Backyard Splash Pool
Last week we went over to Miles and Kerri’s house to play in the baby pool. After waiting out a quick hail storm we stripped the boys down and brought them outside. Kerri filled the pool up with warm water so it was like a nice toasty outdoor bath! We didn’t get to stay for long and unfortunately our play date ended with Miles getting a busted lip. I have never seen so much blood coming out of a baby’s mouth but thankfully he was ok and only ended up with a big bruised lip. What a day!!

Where We Live
Our house is not exactly in the middle of nowhere but it’s far enough out of the city that we are surrounded by land and horse farms. Sometimes when Carter falls asleep I like to drive around and take in the scenery. I’m an equine lover at heart and grew up spending most of my free time in a barn so I have an appreciation for all things country. Right down the street from us is a farm that raises mini horses. It’s hard to see in the picture below but one of the babies is passed out taking a nap!

My Sister’s Birthday
May is the busiest month in our family with birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. This day is particularly important though because it is my sister’s 30th birthday! She started this month with a very special surprise- her son Nathan being born. He was originally due today but had other plans in mind! I am so glad she gets to spend her birthday as a mommy and wish her a very happy, happy birthday! I'm so bummed because Carter and I had a ticket to fly to Orlando today but he is under the weather and our doctor advised against it. I was really hoping to be able to surprise my sister and her family but we'll have to save the tickets for another time!
I love you Kris and wish we could be together all the time. Hopefully one day we will get to live nearby so the babies can grow up as good of friends as we are! Thanks for being a great big sister! xoxo

Baby Nathan’s Second Day
I wish we could have stayed longer to visit with baby Nathan but unfortunately we had to get back to Atlanta. We went to the hospital early on Tuesday morning to soak up as much newborn baby goodness as we could before hitting the road!

Nathan Brooks Morgan
I love every single detail of baby Nathan’s nursery. Kristin did an amazing job designing it and the whole room came out even better than I could have imagined. She spent a lot of time creating unique pieces of art for the nursery including six canvases that she painted the letters of his name. The navy, yellow, and gray color scheme fits perfectly with the white board and batten they installed and the room was incredibly welcoming and waiting for their sweet baby boy!
Carter was pretty jealous of baby Nathan and we had to watch him carefully when they were next to each other. Carter managed to whack him a few times but he’s just preparing Nathan for a lifetime of wrestling and rough housing with his big cousin! Hopefully the baby was no worse for wear!

May 8, 2011
On May 8th (my second Mother’s Day) I became an aunt! My sister Kristin was due with her first baby on May 20th but little Nathan had other ideas! They were scheduled for a c-section a few days before that because the baby was breech and a little too snuggly! That Saturday night, Kristin’s water broke and by 1:30am they were preparing for the hospital. Thank goodness Linc is a night owl and answered his phone because mine was on silent and I missed the 10+ phone calls from my brother in law! We were on pins and needles waiting to hear what was going on and by 3:30am baby Nathan had been taken by emergency c-section! I couldn’t even believe he was here already and even though I was a bit sad we weren’t there for the actual birth, I was so proud of my sister and her husband! I stayed up until around 5:30 texting and talking to Ryan and then finally tried to get some sleep since we were going to leave first thing in the morning to make the trek down there. What a great way to start Mother’s Day!!
