Someone didn’t want to pose for his one year photos recently…
Did I mention he has two molars coming in? Even his pacifier and Mr. Duck couldn’t offer any relief so we put down the camera, packed away his birthday outfit, took a dose of Motrin, and spent the rest of the afternoon cuddling on the couch. My poor little man...I hate teething...
We are making mason jar cookies as Carter’s “goody bag” for his first birthday next week. I have had the ingredients sitting on my table for a few days now and last night while daddy was entertaining the boy, I broke out my measuring cups and funnel and made the first one. I was disappointed to find that the only ingredient to flow through the funnel was the white sugar so the rest I ended up having to dump in and made a bit of a mess! It took a while to get the jar filled because you have to pack down all of the ingredients but I was pretty pleased with how it looked. With a few tweaks to the label we’ll be all set to mass produce! After all was said and done Linc convinced me that we had to try out the recipe to make sure it worked…hahaha I will say they were quite tasty but a bit too sweet for my taste! I might need to tweak the recipe a bit before I fill all 48!
For this recipe we are making oatmeal chocolate chip cookies so I needed:
- Oats
- Flour
- White Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Chocolate Chips
- Baking Soda
- Ground Cinnamon
- Salt
Because these are for Carter’s party I will also attach the custom recipe card I made which explains what wet ingredients you need and how to finish making the cookies as well as two cookie cutters! I am making thank you labels for the lid and a surprise message for the inside of the lid but haven’t had a chance to print them out yet. I think party guests will be very happy with the end result!
After all of that hard work it took about two seconds to dump the contents of the jar into the bowl with our wet ingredients and stir it all about. Linc and I shaped the cookies into hearts before baking just for fun- if you plan on making these keep in mind they do not hold their shape once in the oven! The cookies turned out to be very delicious and I can’t wait to pass these fun and unique “goody bags” out at C’s party!
Today fellow Baby Brigader Macey is one years old! Yay! This weekend we made the long trek to Newnan to help her celebrate. Even though the traffic was horrendous due to the circus and a cheerleading conference, we were very fortunate to ride with our friends Kerri and Shari and all of the babies were well behaved in the car. We made it to the party only a few minutes late and enjoyed an absolutely gorgeous afternoon outside. Miss Macey was not too interested in her smash cake but the rest of the food was so yummy and gave me some ideas for our own party coming up! It was the perfect day and I am so glad we could celebrate with Macey and Laurie as well as most of the Baby Brigade!
Hey fellow MomTogs, help me out by answering a few questions--
- How do you feel about using a UV filter on a Canon 60D? Any recommendations?
- What are your must have accessories for shooting outdoors?
- Any tips to make sure pictures aren’t over exposed?
- What settings do you shoot in to capture special moments on a sunny day?
This month it seems like we’re either at a birthday party or the park with our friends! We have had some unusually warm weather and have been taking full advantage of being outdoors. Last Thursday we made the thirty minute drive down to Morgan Falls Park in Sandy Springs. If you live in the area I highly suggest you give it a try! It is definitely THE nicest park we go to. There is AstroTurf all over the play yard so the babies can crawl around without getting filthy, tons of benches to relax on, and porch swings overlooking the beautiful lake! We went right at lunch time and it was pretty crowded, but Carter loved playing with the big boys and making some new friends!
When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant
between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth. Genesis 9:16
“…but Mama, but Mama, what if I were a super smelly skunk,
and I smelled so bad that my name was Stinky Face…?”
The weather has been unusually warm lately so the Baby Brigade has been taking advantage and spending all of our time outside! We drove up north to Central Park, went for a nice long walk, and the enjoyed a picnic lunch on the play ground. We took the babies down to the baseball field so they could crawl around and we wouldn’t have to worry about them eating the pine bark! What a beautiful day!
We met up with Shari and Spencer on Monday because the weather was gorgeous and we needed to load up on some vitamin D while we could! The boys had a blast crawling around on the baseball field, playing chase and follow the leader, and wrestling in the grass! They are definitely rough and tumbly little guys and it was so much fun to watch them roam free!
Happy Birthday Harison and Madison! We had so much fun at the twin’s first birthday party on Saturday. The big event was held at Gymboree and there were lots of little friends for us to play with. Even though Carter had been there before, he took a little while to warm up and didn’t really want to do any of the activities. We found him a ball to play with and once the instructor brought out bubbles he was much more comfortable! The twins really enjoyed their smash cake and daddy even let C take a little bite! This was birthday party number three for us…only eight more to go!
