The Baby Brigade
Today, Carter and I met up with the other "March Mommies" for a three mile walk and picnic! All of the babies did such a great job and we welcomed two new friends- Kerri and Nancy- into the group. The weather was a bit overcast but thankfully the rain held out until later in the afternoon. We got a nice workout and enjoyed the scenery on the Greenway. Nancy and Dylan had to leave before we took our group photo and poor Laurie and baby Macey had their eight week appointment and couldn't make it. Looking forward to next weeks meet up though and seeing everyone again!

Seven Weeks Old
Carter, yesterday you turned seven weeks old! My how the time flies! We are in the middle of what I hope is just a growth spurt and I am ready for it to end very soon. You start your days off SO happy- with big smiles, lots of giggles, playing and cuddling with momma, and "talking" back to me. Come afternoon though...a different baby emerges. Let's just say I am ready for daddy to get home from work so I can have a few moments to myself! All in all though, you are such a sweet boy and this time is going by too fast. Even though it's tough right now, I know I shouldn't wish away the sleepless nights, growth spurts, and fussy periods because this "in arms" stage is way too short. I love holding you, smelling your little head, and watching you gaze back at me with a huge toothless grin. As we head into month two, here are some things about you:
- We have transitioned you to Size 2 diapers. They are still pretty big in the waist but do a much better job containing your big messes!
- It's time to pack away all your newborn clothes and even some 0-3 month items. You have a really long, narrow torso though (despite having a Buddha belly) so the bigger clothes are still a bit baggy in the tummy. But, by the time they fit width wise I'm sure you'll be too long for them anyway!!
- You are sleeping about 2.5-3 hour stretches at night. Not a huge improvement from the early days and makes for one tired mommy! You still sleep swaddled and prefer to rest your head on the right side.
- You have rejected every single type of pacifier! Every once and a while you find your thumb or index finger so maybe you'll use those to self soothe instead of mommy.
- We make eye contact occasionally and those are some of my most favorite moments!
- You love to "talk" and discover new ways to use your voice every day.
- Every day you get stronger and stronger! I can't believe how powerful your little legs are. You'll be scooting before we know it!

Growth Spurt
Remember my precious little baby who gave the biggest smiles after eating? Where did he go?! It amazes me how literally overnight my sweet, happy, cuddly boy turns into a cranky, inconsolable "mini monster" when a growth spurt strikes! I should have realized yesterday afternoon when C started acting fussy and refused to nap. He decided to not sleep last night either and requested a meal every HOUR on the hour. He was wide awake for more than four hours straight before finally dozing off as the sun came up.
Today has not been much better. I took him for a walk around the neighborhood only to have him scream bloody murder for the last 15 minutes as I booked it back home. He's been cat napping for about 30 minute stretches and then waking up angry at the world. Even after eating, snacking, and going back for thirds he is still miserable. I'd be worried he wasn't getting enough but the 12 diapers we've already gone through since this morning (and my pile of soaked shirts from listening to him fuss) beg to differ! Poor guy- let's hope this spurt doesn't last too much longer, we're both exhausted!!

March Mommies
Monday morning Carter and I loaded up the car and headed to our friend Krissy's house! She was hosting our first March Mommies play group and made us a yummy lunch. We had plenty of time to swap labor stories, share tips and advice, and pose the babies for pictures! There were two girls and three boys and I am sure they will love interacting with each other eventually! It's so much fun knowing these little ones will grow up together! Thanks again Krissy and Nicholas for sharing your home with us!!
